In 2009 it’s Brazil’s turn to hold the KENDO World Championships which take place each 3 years. The 14th WKC will gather together Athletes and people from all parts of the world to dispute and appreciate the ancient art of KENDO. The 14th WKC will be held in the cities of São Bernardo do Campo and São Paulo and it is expected to have a huge repercussion on enthusiasts, as well as the media.
FINAL ENTRY
39 countries / regional authorities confirmed their participation in the 14th WKC in accordance with the final entry end of May 2009:
- Argentina, Aruba, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Taiwan, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, USA and Venezuela.
32 countries will participate in the Individual Women’s Championship, with 104 athletes and 19 countries will participate in the Women’s Team Championship, with 113 athletes.
39 countries will participate in the Individual Men’s Championship, with 149 athletes and 35 countries will participate in the Men’s Team Championship, with 222 athletes.
DRAWINGS OF COMPETITIONS
The Drawings of the individual and Team competitions have already been defined.
The Drawing took place on June 24 at the headquarters of the International Kendo Federation - FIK, Japan.
